Ingredients
- 3 small mild apples
- 80 ml water
- 1 pinch cinnamon or vanilla
- 1 tsp maple syrup or acacia honey
Method
- Peel, core and dice the mild apples.
- Add to a small saucepan with the water, cover and cook gently until soft.
- Add a small amount of cinnamon or vanilla and mash lightly if desired.
- Serve lukewarm or allow to cool completely.
Why this recipe is gentle
Gentle cooking softens the apples and makes them milder than raw fruit, and there is no added fat. Peeling removes the skin, which can be harder to digest.
General information, not medical advice or a treatment claim. Reactions are individual. If heartburn or reflux is frequent, severe or persistent, see a doctor.
Tips
- Fruit can be a personal trigger, so a small cooked portion may be tolerated differently than raw fruit.
- Peel the apples, since the skin is harder to digest.
- Serve lukewarm rather than cold if that feels easier on your stomach.
