About Reflux Kitchen
Reflux Kitchen helps people with acid reflux and heartburn answer one very practical question: “what can I eat today?” We make an iPhone app and publish clear, honest guides on eating well with reflux.
Why we exist
Reflux Kitchen was founded by Bernhard Kalhammer, who built the app after dealing with reflux himself and finding that generic “avoid everything” lists rarely helped. The idea is simple: instead of a one-size-fits-all blocklist, work from your own triggers and the ingredients you actually have. The company behind it is FibroVitalis GmbH, based in München, Germany.
How we write our guides
- We keep guidance practical and honest — no cures, no miracle foods, and no scare tactics.
- We separate what is well established from what is anecdotal, and we say when evidence is weak.
- Our content is general information, not medical advice, and we point readers to a doctor for frequent, severe or persistent symptoms.
- Guides reflect guidance from established medical bodies; see the sources listed on each article.
Editorial review
Our nutrition guidance is reviewed by Uta Pittino, osteopath, physiotherapist and licensed non-medical practitioner (Heilpraktikerin) focused on nutritional and functional medicine. In practice she regularly works with people who have digestive complaints, and a recurring theme informs our approach: blanket bans help less than knowing your own triggers and adjusting portion size, preparation and timing. A reviewer is not a substitute for your own doctor.
