Oven Turkey Meatballs with Rice

Baked turkey meatballs with parsley next to a portion of basmati rice.

Ingredients

  • 400 g ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g cooked rice
  • 140 g basmati rice
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

  1. Knead the turkey with egg, the cooked rice, parsley and a pinch of salt and form small balls.
  2. Bake at 190 °C for about 20–22 minutes without heavy browning.
  3. Cook the basmati rice according to the packet.
  4. Serve the meatballs with the rice.

Why this recipe is gentle

Ground turkey is lean and high in protein, and the egg binds in even more. Because the balls bake at moderate heat without heavy browning and leave out onion, garlic and heat entirely, the dish stays mild and lower in fat.

Tips

  • Gentle baking without heavy browning is often felt to be easier than searing hot in a pan.
  • The meatballs prepare well ahead and freeze nicely in single portions.
  • Fat level, portion size and personal triggers influence individual tolerance.
