Bowl of cucumber and avocado salad in a creamy herb dressing on a light plate.

Ingredients

  • 1 large cucumber, peeled and deseeded
  • 1/3 ripe avocado
  • 120 g lactose-free cottage cheese
  • 3 tbsp lactose-free yogurt mixed with water
  • 1 tbsp chopped dill or parsley
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

  1. Prepare the base as described and allow it to become lukewarm.
  2. Cut the ripe avocado into small pieces or steam gently.
  3. Whisk the mild dressing with the herbs until smooth.
  4. Toss everything lightly, season gently and serve fresh.

Why this recipe is gentle

The dressing skips vinegar, lemon and spice, relying on mild lactose-free dairy and gentle herbs instead. Peeling and deseeding the cucumber makes it easier to digest, and using only a little avocado keeps the fat modest.

General information, not medical advice or a treatment claim. Reactions are individual. If heartburn or reflux is frequent, severe or persistent, see a doctor.

Tips

  • Avocado is richer, so use just a small amount to keep the dish light.
  • Raw cucumber can be a trigger for some. Peel and deseed it, or steam it briefly if needed.
  • Let the salad come to room temperature rather than serving it very cold.
